Whole Community Catechesis

What exactly is Whole Community Catechesis?

It is an approach to parish faith formation through which youth and adults as well as children are invited to participate in Faith Formation Program throughout the year.

The entire community thus becomes the focus of all we do in catechesis.

One way to begin this incorporating Whole Community Catechesis is to share the upcoming Sunday’s gospel reading with your household by reading the gospel out loud 2-3 times.  Afterwards share how God spoke to each of you in the reading.

Another way is to participate in the weekly reflections found in the church bulletin and the inserts provided by the faith formation department.

Households of Faith Events are offered 3 times a year.  In these gatherings we will be covering part of the comprehensive curricula offered by Our Sunday Visitor Publishing in a “new” way.  We expect families of those registered in the Faith Formation classes to attend, as well as extending an invitation to the entire parish community.  During these catechetical assemblies we will gather in a way that feels more like a church community rather than school – children, youth and adults will gather together to learn, celebrate and share their faith  together. Session will be from 6:30 – 8:00 on designated Wednesday nights.
